For the latecomers: RVM on OS X

If you haven't already, you can install RVM pretty easily. These instructions should also work for Linux. For those that aren't familiar with it, RVM is the Ruby version manager which allows you to switch between multiple version of Ruby. Handy if you are doing most of your work on 1.8.7 but then are also working on making changes to your app so it runs in 1.9.2. Read on for details.

1. Run the script by copying this into your bash terminal

bash < <( curl )

2. Add this to your .bash_login (or equivalent)

[[ -s "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm" ]] && . "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm"  # This loads RVM into a shell session.

3. Open a new terminal window & test it's working by running this command

type rvm | head -n1

4. Install Ruby 1.9.2

rvm install 1.9.2
